One of several initiatives being delivered by Music Victoria and Regional Arts Victoria as part of the Regional Music Development Program, this week-long series of workshops and live music events will showcase local talent and create space for local artists and the music industry to connect and learn together.

With project collaborators Still Here, MAV, JL Productions and Riverlinks, Shepp Music Week will support the recovery of Shepparton’s live music industry and contribute to a vibrant new music economy post-COVID. Shepp Music Week Coordinator and local artist, Ree Peric says that this is an exciting opportunity to highlight and celebrate the diversity of our creative scene in Shepparton.

“We are working hard to ensure representation of all local artists and music industry including our POC, First Nations, LGBTQIA+, young people and disabled artists and we invite you all to get involved”, says Ree.

Local Yorta Yorta artist and Still Here music creative director, Neil Morris, says that this event should take place in Shepparton, home to the largest First Nations population in Victoria.

“Some amazing talent has come out of Shepparton over the years. Central to this is Indigenous people and the role we have played with song on this land for thousands of years.”’ Neil says that Shepp Music Week will also be a great chance for local artists to network with broader music industry professionals.

“It will support the cultivation of robust relationships to keep Shepparton talent growing and connected beyond just the local, to our broader evolving music ecosystem.’”

The Shepp Music Week team is keen to hear from all local artists, venues, presenters and live music makers. Have your say head to this survey (closes 1st Oct 2021).
