Noorilim is one of the most lavish and best-preserved country mansions ever constructed in Australia. Designed by James Gall and built in 1879 for Mr William Irving Winter-Irving MLC, it features Minton tiles, marble fireplaces, and 10 bedrooms. The estate is surrounded by 20 acres of botanical gardens and 75 acres of vineyards.
Noorilim Estate is quite possibly the largest privately owned botanical gardens in the country and is also the location of the 1879 Italianate homestead that has been described as one of the best preserved 19th century mansions in Australia containing a grand hall featuring Minton tiles, 10 bedrooms, 15 fireplaces, 7 staircases an under ground living compartment, cellar and organ gallery where Dame Nelly Melba once sang!
The gardens contain over 300 established trees including 136 year-old Moreton Bay Figs, River Red Gums, Pines and English Elm to name a few.
Noorilim Estate is now open on selected Sundays for entry to the gardens and tours of the beautifully restored homestead. Why not pack a picnic lunch to enjoy with the family in the lush gardens with a view of the ornamental lake and abundant bird life.
