This exhibition captures the history and living stories of Yorta Yorta country and people as passed on through family and community. This exhibition by Yorta Yorta artist Coree Thorpe, is inspired by his maternal grandparents and family stories and memories associated with living in a significantly historical time and place in Yorta Yorta history.

4 February 2019 marked the 80th Anniversary of the Cummeragunja Walk-Off where many Aboriginal families left the mission to live in an area fondly known as the Mooroopna Flats, next to the Kaiela (Goulburn River) and Midland Highway between Mooroopna and Shepparton in Victoria.

This exhibition will be showcased at The Connection Shepparton - Home of Yurri Catering which is closely located and interconnected with the Mooroopna Flats and Yorta Yorta history.

Identity, culture, family and sharing connection to country are at the heart of this project.

The exhibition launch is Saturday 27 July 6:30pm, dinner and drinks provided

This project has been supported by Multicultural Arts Victoria and Creative Victoria
