STUDENT SHOWCASE

At the culmination of a week-long residency with The Australian Ballet Education team, students from the Better Together Alliance schools will open this event with a sharing of co-created works based on a theme of identity. This residency is supported by The Colonial Foundation and the Fairley Foundation. The program aims to develop core skills, confidence and general well-being, while working to prepare students for their own choreographed performance to the community.

Artists from The Australian Ballet will close the showcase with a performance of Plain Jane.

PLAIN JANE
Choreographer: Lucas Jervies
Design: Elizabeth Gadsby
Music: Tristen Parr

Plain Jane tells the story of a young girl resisting the expectations of society. This 20-minute duet addresses themes of personal identity and peer pressure and is well suited to upper primary and secondary school audiences. Join Jane on a journey of transformation as she decides that she doesn't need to be Cinderella to be awesome.
