The SYIA was launched in 2011 to create a regional competition for new and aspiring musicians.
In addition to the prestige of winning an award in one of the instrument categories, young musicians benefit from competition and the potential to perform on the big stage in a gala concert at Eastbank in September.
The 2016 Shepparton Young Instrumentalists Award were a huge success and gave many students an opportunity for their talents to be recognized at a community level.
Sectional competitions will be held at Eastbank during the day on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September. Judges will then select competitors from the sectionals to perform at a Gala Concert on the afternoon of Sunday 24 September. They will subsequently award the ‘Best Performance’ of the SYIA which will attract a trophy, cash prize and further performance opportunities in 2018.
