The Salvation Army Melbourne Staff Band

Since its formation in 1890, The Melbourne Staff Band has been at the forefront of Salvation Army music making in Australia and beyond.  As a band of Christian musicians their music is predominantly gospel based, but the band is equally comfortable in a wide range of musical styles.

It has distinguished itself in performances in every state of Australia and at many overseas venues, including London's Royal Albert Hall, the forecourt of Buckingham Palace and on Main Street, Disneyland.  In addition to the band’s close association with Silvie Paladino, the band has performed with some of Australia’s finest artists including James Morrison, the MSO’s Geoffrey Payne, The Idea Of North, Marina Prior and David Hobson.

Each year the band visits Salvation Army centres and churches, locally, in regional areas and across Australian.  It has also undertaken extensive concert tours of New Zealand, U.S.A., Canada, Europe, United Kingdom and most recently to South Africa and Zambia. From a suburban street of Melbourne, to a country town bandstand and onto the stage of a famous international concert hall, the Melbourne Staff Band presents its music with the ultimate aim of proclaiming the gospel message.
