Blast off with a cast of aliens and astronauts, robots and roaches (the only survivors of the nuclear fallout) for a night that puts the ‘odd’ in ‘space odyssey’. Drawing from the superior DNA of the likes of Circus Oz, Retro Futurismus is an old-school variety night with a sci-fi flavour, equipped with hi-tech burlesque, space-age circus artistry and post-apocalyptic performance.

A stellar cast – the Davey twins (Anni & Maude), Gabi Barton, Anna Lumb and Teresa Blake - tip their space helmets to the visionary likes of Björk, Bowie and Barbarella and uncover how the past saw the future. In an atmosphere inspired by the work of Fritz Lang, Margaret Atwood and Stanley Kubrick, a dystopia has never been so delightful.

"Fuelled by pop culture nostalgia and delirious visions from science fiction, this is a variety show with few limits. I've long wanted to see these wonder twins activate, and the Davey sisters do not disappoint." - Cameron Woodhead, The Age

"... You will be wowed, you will laugh and you will ponder - about the past, the future, and what we have yet to achieve." - Ross Battaglia, milkbarmag.com

"Retro Futurismus presents an anarchic mash-up of imagery from dancing robots and forlorn astronauts, to soulful songstresses and gasping screen sirens. It is by turns hilarious, provocative and melancholy and more often than not wildly outlandish... A gloriously bizarre and provocative experience." - Nic Spunde, australianstage.com.au

Grab a bite to eat at the Eastbank Cafe before the show - the Cafe will be open an hour before this performance with a range of salads, tarts, open sandwiches and vegetable wraps available, as well as beer, local wines, juices and coffee.
