The Classic, as the annual NVSDC race is known, has a strong history in Australian sled dog racing. Running for 21 years as the Undera Sled Dog Dash until 2011 and being reborn and revitalized as the Northern Victorian Sled Dog Club (NVSDC) Classic. All the excitement of the Australian sledding season begins as the competitors and their dog teams head out to race the NVSDC Classic.

This event is the largest dry land sled dog race in Australasia, attracting entries from Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Canberra, Victoria and Tasmania. The Classic will be held 9th June – 11th June 2018, Moira Park Scout Camp, Moira Drive, Kialla West. Camping and facilities are available.

With three days of racing, over one evening and two mornings, spectators will experience the excitement of over 200 dogs and their mushers. It’s always exciting to see Juniors and Novices entered, as these mushers represent the future of the sport. Also, this year we have the additional class awards of age groups for men’s & women’s Canicross.

Racing will start at 3.00pm on Saturday, providing environmental conditions are correct, and then 7.00am on Sunday and Monday morning. These times are subject to change, as racing cannot occur unless the temperatures are below 15 degs and low to mid humidity.

All this is made possible due to volunteers and the great sponsors that come on board each year. In 2018, The Classic is excited to have major sponsors Black Hawk Pet Care, Non Stop Dog Wear & Australian Sled Dog Supplies as well as many others.
