Music that speaks across the centuries. Pre show talk at 7.00pm.
To hear Bach's keyboard concertos is to witness the birth of a genre. Alternating bustling brio and the most heartfelt lyricism, Bach creates music that speaks across the centuries. Recently praised for his "simply gorgeous" playing and "crystalline phrasing" by the Washington Post, pianist David Fung is an ideal match for the immaculate poise and effortless dexterity these wonderful concertos require.
Béla Bartók’s Divertimento is one of the iconic works for chamber orchestra—an exhilarating showpiece, inflected with folk melodies and driving rhythms. An intriguing Telemann concerto for four violins and three heartfelt miniatures by DvoĆák complete a concert of contrasts across the centuries.
Program:
Dvorak - Three Miniatures Op 75a
Telemann - Concerto for four violins TWV 54:A1
Bach – Keyboard Concerto No 7 in G minor BWV 1058
Bach – Keyboard Concerto No 4 in A Major BWV 1055
Bartok - Divertimento Sz113
Please stay for some light refreshments after the concert and meet the musicians.
